Class 1 Railroad Connections:

    Access to B&H, LAL and WNYP Property

    Due to insurance requirements, we do not allow visitors to have unescorted access to our rail yards or property. Visitors to any of our railroads must be escorted by a railroad employee. Visitors who are not on business with the railroad should request permission 24 hours in advance by calling the railroad office. Permission will be supplied only if staff time and work schedules allow. A written release must be signed in person at the local railroad office.

  • CSXT at Genesee Junction, NY (GENJT) – Connection with Water Level Route near Rochester
  • Rochester & Southern at Brooks Ave., Rochester, NY (RCBRV) – Connection with RSR
  • Norfolk Southern at Silver Springs, NY (SVRSP) – Connection with NS Southern Tier Route
  • Canadian Pacific at Silver Springs, NY (SVRSP) – Connection with CP (ex-D&H)
    Note: Movement between Rochester and Silver Springs is via LAL haulage over RSR.
     

Service Frequency:

    Train service operates as required between Lakeville and Rochester, typically five days a week. Lakeville and Avon patrons are switched as required, including weekends.

Multimodal Options:

LAL Lakeville Yard Bulk Transfer Facility

    Location: Lakeville, NY (Sweeteners Blvd.), near I-390 and New York State Routes 15 and 20A.
    Commodities: Plastic, chemicals, liquid fertilizer.
    Car spots: 5
    Available services: On-demand switching, heating, temperature and quantity reporting, product sampling, mechanical assistance, truck scale and trucking available.
    Facility: Graded (stone), lighted, secure, under direct supervision of Lakeville office. This facility is available to LAL customers without additional charge.
    Highway mileages: 15 miles to I-90 (NYS Thruway) at Henrietta, 24 miles to Rochester, 64 miles to Buffalo, 96 miles to Syracuse, 79 miles to Corning.

LAL Lakeville Fertilizer Transfer Facility

    Location: Lakeville, NY (Stone Hill Rd), near I-390 and adjacent to New York State Routes 15 and 20A.
    Commodities: Dry bulk fertilizer
    Car spots: 3
    Available services: On-demand switching, mechanical assistance, truck scale, trucking available.
    Facility: 90-ton/hour fertilizer conveyor, paved (blacktop and stone), lighted, operation supported from nearby Lakeville office and shop. This facility is available to LAL customers without additional charge.

LAL Team Tracks and Other Facilities

    LAL has team tracks (public use sidetracks) at Lakeville and Avon. We also can suggest other multimodal and distribution facilities on our line. Please contact us.

Track Standards:

    Main line: FRA Class 3 (operated at 30 MPH). Maximum gross weight 286,000 on the main line and all industrial tracks.
    Note: From time to time, applicable operating instructions may differ from the foregoing information.

Safety Awards:

    American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association 2000 Silver Safety Award in the 10,001 - 50,000 man-hours category, nationwide. This award recognizes railroads having the fewest reportable personal injuries per man-hour during the year, as reported to the Federal Railroad Administration. According to ASLRRA, the Safety Award "has become the standard by which all short line and regional railroads are measured."

    ASLRRA 2002 Silver Safety Award in the 10,001-50,000 man-hours category, nationwide.

    ASLRRA 2003 Copper Safety Award in the 10,001-50,000 man-hours category, nationwide.

    ASLRRA 2004 Copper Safety Award in the 10,001-50,000 man-hours category, nationwide.

    "Jake Award" for 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2006, and 2007 and the ASLRRA "Jake Award with Distinction" for 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007. The Jake Award was launched in 1994 by Copper Basin Railway president L.S. "Jake" Jacobsen to recognize short line and regional railroads that operate without any reportable injuries or fatalities. In recent years the award program has been administered by ASLRRA, which created the Jake Award with Distinction to recognize railroads that operate without any reportable injuries, fatalities, or train accidents
